Republican Conference of international level “Current Issues in Ophthalmology” was organized in Minsk on the ground of Belarusian Medical Academy for Postgraduate Education, the place where doctors of all specialties from the Republic of Belarus obtain their higher qualification.
The main goal of the Conference was to solve the urgent issues of ophthalmological diseases and organize specialized ophthalmological care.
On November 9-10, 2016, doctors not only from the Republic of Belarus, but also representatives of neighboring (Russia, Azerbaijan) and foreign countries gathered to discuss topical issues in modern Ophthalmology.
The Conference program covered almost all main problems of modern Ophthalmology: current approaches in glaucoma treatment and diagnosis, refraction abnormality, cataract, retina and cornea disease, as well as aspects of neuro-ophthalmology, ortho-keratology, oncology and plastic surgery.
Chief specialists from all over the Republic gathered to discuss main aspects: Migal T.F. - Deputy Head of the Central Board on Organization of Medical Care, Head of the Department of Specialized Medical Assistance of the Ministry of Health; Imshenetskaya T.A.- Head of the Department of Ophthalmology, State Academy “BelMAPO”, Chief Ophthalmologist of the Ministry of Health of RB, MD, Professor; Mushtina T.A.- Head of the City Ophthalmological Consultative and Diagnostic Center “3rd City Clinical Hospital” in Minsk, Chief Ophthalmologist of the Health Committee of Minsk City Executive Committee; Krasilnikova V.L., Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, State Academy “BelMAPO”, Chief Pediatric Ophthalmologist, Ministry of Health of RB, MD; Dudich O.N. - Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, State Academy "BelMAPO", MD; Vashkevich G.V. – Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, State Academy "BelMAPO", MD; Malinovsky G.F., Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, State Academy “BelMAPO”, MD and others.
The Conference guests were most interested in foreign colleagues reports, specifically: Anastasios Kostas, Professor of Ophthalmology, University Ophthalmology Clinic, Head of Glaucoma Society (Thessaloniki, Greece) report on the problem of glaucoma treatment optimization; Xavier Borrois, Professor of Ophthalmic Hospital in Lausanne University (Switzerland) report on approaches to treat main oculomotor disorders; Professor of Ophthalmology at the Ophthalmology Center (Ain Shams University Hospital, Cairo, Egypt) report on cataract surgery innovations; David Carpenter from the Morfield Eye Hospital (London, UK) report on the topic “The Art of ocular prosthesis”.
The separate section for clinical cases analysis was prepared by the staff of the 10th State Clinical Hospital, Minsk, where representatives of Russian ophthalmology in the field of surgical and medical treatment of eye diseases reported successful cases.
